Hellboy is a supernatural action film directed by Guillermo del Toro. The story follows Hellboy (Ron Perlman), a demon summoned to Earth by the Nazis during World War II but rescued and raised by Professor Bruttenholm (John Hurt) to become a force for good.

Working for the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense (B.P.R.D.), Hellboy, along with his team, which includes pyrokinetic Liz Sherman (Selma Blair) and aquatic empath Abe Sapien (Doug Jones), battles dark forces threatening humanity. As the villainous Grigori Rasputin (Karel Roden) seeks to unleash apocalyptic horrors, Hellboy must confront his origins and choose between his demonic nature and his heroic destiny.
