The film follows Beck (Dwayne Johnson), a professional bounty hunter with a conscience, who is sent on a final mission by his boss, Billy Walker (William Lucking), before he can retire and pursue his dream of opening a restaurant. Beck’s task is to travel to the Amazon rainforest in Brazil to retrieve Walker’s wayward son, Travis Walker (Seann William Scott), who has been searching for a valuable artifact known as “El Gato del Diablo,” a legendary gold idol.
Upon arriving in the small town of Helldorado in the Amazon, Beck discovers that the area is under the control of a ruthless and eccentric mining tycoon named Cornelius Hatcher (Christopher Walken). Hatcher exploits the local population as cheap labor to mine for gold, and he’s not keen on letting anyone interfere with his operations.
Travis, a fast-talking and reckless adventurer, has also made enemies in the jungle, including Mariana (Rosario Dawson), a local bartender with her own motivations for finding the idol. Beck quickly learns that retrieving Travis won’t be as easy as he thought, as the two men find themselves on the run from Hatcher’s men, navigating dangerous terrain, hostile wildlife, and ancient traps in their quest for the artifact.
As Beck and Travis journey deeper into the jungle, they form an unlikely partnership, with Travis’s cunning and Beck’s brute strength complementing each other. Along the way, they are pursued relentlessly by Hatcher, leading to a series of action-packed and often humorous confrontations.
