The story revolves around Charley Brewster (William Ragsdale), a teenage horror movie enthusiast who discovers that his new next-door neighbor, Jerry Dandrige (Chris Sarandon), is a vampire. Charley becomes convinced of Jerry’s true nature after witnessing him exhibit vampire-like behavior and seeing evidence of his nocturnal activities.
When Charley tries to warn others about the vampire next door, he finds that no one believes him. Desperate for help, he turns to Peter Vincent (Roddy McDowall), a washed-up actor who used to play a vampire hunter in horror movies. Despite his initial skepticism, Peter eventually joins Charley in his quest to stop Jerry.
