“Falling Skies” (2011) is a post-apocalyptic science fiction television series created by Robert Rodat and produced by Steven Spielberg. The series stars Noah Wyle, Moon Bloodgood, Drew Roy, and Will Patton.
Set in the aftermath of an alien invasion that has devastated much of Earth, the story centers on a group of survivors who band together to resist the extraterrestrial occupiers. The main protagonist, Tom Mason (Noah Wyle), is a former history professor who becomes a leader of the human resistance movement. As the second-in-command of the 2nd Massachusetts Militia Regiment, Tom is determined to protect his three sons and fight for humanity’s survival.
The aliens, known as “Espheni,” have enslaved children using biomechanical harnesses and employ various otherworldly creatures, such as the formidable Mechs and Skitters, to maintain control over the human population. The series follows Tom and his fellow resistance fighters, including Anne Glass (Moon Bloodgood), a pediatrician and Tom’s love interest, and Captain Dan Weaver (Will Patton), the tough but compassionate military leader of the 2nd Mass, as they engage in guerrilla warfare, seek allies, and uncover the true motives of their alien adversaries.
