Assassin’s Creed (2016) is a science fiction action film directed by Justin Kurzel, based on the popular video game series of the same name developed by Ubisoft. The movie stars Michael Fassbender as Callum Lynch, a career criminal who discovers he is a descendant of a secret society of assassins known as the Assassins.
The story unfolds as Callum Lynch is captured by the mysterious Abstergo Industries and forced to relive the memories of his ancestor, Aguilar de Nerha, through a revolutionary technology called the Animus. The Animus allows Callum to experience Aguilar’s memories in 15th-century Spain, where Aguilar and his fellow Assassins battle against the oppressive Templar Order.
As Callum delves deeper into Aguilar’s memories, he gains incredible skills and knowledge that aid him in his present-day struggle against the Templars, who seek to control humanity through the power of an ancient artifact known as the Apple of Eden. With the help of other descendants of Assassins, including Sofia (Marion Cotillard), a scientist at Abstergo, Callum fights to reclaim his identity and prevent the Templars from achieving their sinister goals.
